Frequently asked questions about my driving lessons in Hungerford

Getting started with learning to drive

How do I apply for a provisional driving license?

You can apply online through the official government portal, or pick up and complete a D1 application form (Available from most Post Offices).

Learning to drive

How many lessons will I need?

This depends on your skill level and familiarity with driving. The national average is 45 hours of professional instruction (Equivalent to just over 22 of my standard lessons), but you can supplement this by practicing with a licensed driver. That said, I will tell you as soon as I feel you are ready to take a test.

How do I practice outside our lessons?

Anybody over the age of 21 who has held a full license for at least 3 years can serve as a qualified supervisor, as long as you display L plates on your vehicle.

Where do I offer my lessons?

I offer driving lessons in Chippenham, Hungerford and the surrounding 15 miles, including:
Newbury | Greenham | Winchester | Swindon

Taking your driving test

What do I need to bring with me to the test?

Bring your provisional driver’s license and theory pass certificate, along with the car you want to take the test in. This will be either the friend or family member’s car you have been provisionally learning in or the same Vauxhall Corsa you have been taking lessons in.

What happens if I fail?

If you don’t pass, please don’t stress – Less than half of UK drivers pass the first time! I will provide feedback based on your majors and minors so we know where to improve, and you will be able to retake the test after 10 working days.
You can find more resources and advice on getting ready for your test here.
